The brain is in a race for heatlh, your mind, body and soul.

Let’s all get to the point right away. The brain needs help. The brain is in a race for health.

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback, is a fun, interactive, non-invasive, and medication-free treatment that helps you increase self-control over certain aspects of your brain function. Because of neuroplasticity—your brain’s ability to change—neurofeedback therapy can help you retrain your brain to reduce mental health symptoms, improve performance, and achieve a more balanced brain.

A very good explanation of Neurofeedback (from Amen clinic resources) is painless and safe for people of all ages and provides numerous benefits for a variety of brain health and mental health concerns. For example, because of its capacity to help people retrain their brain, individuals who have behavioral issues can experience self-control over problematic symptoms, increase their confidence, and learn to understand they can adopt healthier patterns of behaving. For those who struggle with emotional stress and anxiety, neurofeedback can help them self-regulate more effectively and respond more positively to situations that produce distressing emotions. Furthermore, it can help high achievers reach peak performance by optimizing their brain function.

In addition to these applications, there are many other conditions that can be helped by undergoing neurofeedback therapy in a professional setting. As a result, patients have reported better memory, focus, and impulse control, lower anxiety, greater mental clarity, more restful sleep, improved mood, and a host of other benefits after using neurofeedback.

Neurofeedback has been used successfully to improve symptoms in many conditions including, but not limited to:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Addictions
  • Anxiety
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Behavioral disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Chronic pain
  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • Memory problems
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Pain management
  • PMS
  • Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Schizophrenia
  • Sleep problems
  • Traumatic brain injury/concussions
  • ADD/ADHD: A 2021 review published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine found neurofeedback therapy helped improve impulse control, behavior, and focus in kids with ADHD.
  • Addictions: A study by scientists at UCLA found that neurofeedback improved abstinence rates in people with addictions.
  • Anxiety: The results of a 2021 study on people with generalized anxiety disorder revealed that neurofeedback helped them improve their emotional regulation and significantly lowered anxiety and depressive symptoms.
  • Depression: Recent research published in Psychological Medicine concluded from the self-reports of participants that neurofeedback, as an adjunctive therapy, was effective in lowering depressive symptoms.
  • Memory Issues: A 2021 study that assessed the efficacy of neurofeedback for memory loss associated with mild cognitive impairment saw significant improvements in memory that were sustained for at least one month after treatment.
  • PTSD: According to the results of a research study published in NeuroImage: Clinical, participants who had PTSD underwent 15-20 weeks of neurofeedback, and at the conclusion of treatment, 61% no longer met criteria for the disorder.
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI): A published overview of the use of neurofeedback for people who have suffered a TBI suggests that it may help reduce symptoms related to attention, mood, and mindfulness while improving motivation for treatment.
  • THESE WILL HELP THE BRAIN IN THE RACE FOR HEALTH.

back and neck issues connected to your mental health

Yes, you read that correctly. Your back and your neck may be one of the biggest reasons for your mental and emotional health.

Take a look at the spine.

The cervical 1 and 2 are at the skull; if they are shifted, even a little, they can cause pain down into the shoulder, jaw, ear, and so forth. With simple daily stretching, consistent massage therapy, and chiropractic adjustments every now and then, you can manage chronic shoulder and upper back pain, and keep those headaches away. This is a huge key to mental health and well-being.

The middle of the back, your thoracic cavity, houses the organs and tissues in your chest. These organs and tissues play a vital role in many of your body’s systems. Heart, lungs, diaphragm, esophagus, liver, stomach, spinal cord, etc, are all affected when this part of the spine is shifted or compressed. In the “v” of your rib cage is your stomach, and in that same area is the emotional cavity; the phrase “gut feeling” comes from the emotional cavity being in this spot. One thing to try when having digestive issues or emotions are high, is to have your T-5 and other thoracic spine adjusted; I have personally had many clients have complete digestive recovery from a simple rib and thoracic adjustment and massage therapy.

What does all this have to do with mental health? If your physical health is at it best, your mental health follows. Many times, the spine and structure of our bodies is not considered when mental health is being assesses. Brain injuries, trauma, and nutritional deficiencies effect our mental and emotional capacities long term in your lifetime. I have personally experienced great mental healing from physical improvements, more so than with mental therapies. In my personal opinion, feeding your brain correctly, improving your health by moving your body every day, and managing your spinal health, will create a mind-body connection you will love.

Your nutrition and fitness boosts your mood and reduces the potential for depression and anxiety. Your thoughts determine how and what your day will be. Do you see how all of this can fits together? What does a new habit in your daily life look like? I have one suggestion to get you started.

Faithful workouts with Michelle is a great place to begin your journey. She is encouraging, creative, and motivating. She has something for every person, no matter what shape you are in.

If you feel you need more help to stay motivated to heal your mental health, and have a healthier brain, contact me and we, together, will create a journey for you. I used to think brain health was just about memory. Now I know it’s the foundation of mental and physical well-being.

Accountability is key in helping clients become more aware of their goals.

Allow me to introduce you to how I will be your accountability.

Goals need to be aligned with their true self by:

The driving force that life and work meaning. What are you passionate about?

Specific actions that bring the purpose to life. How do your goals and purpose align with your purpose?

Long term aspiration. Big picture.

Principals that reflect behavior, deepest beliefs.  Are these aligned with your goals, purpose, mission and vision?

My personal Goals Assessment is on my wall so I see it every morning when I wake and when I go to bed. The statement I read has the purpose, vision, mission and goal binding the three together.

Excerpts from my book, pt 1

“My life changed so much seven years ago it makes my
head spin. Overnight, 50 percent of my diet and the
foods I loved were no longer something I could enjoy. I am
not alone. My story is one among thousands. Alpha-gal
rocked my world! It was mind-boggling! I have had peri ‐
menopausal food sensitivities, hormone food sensitivities,
and more, but nothing like this obnoxious tick-borne food
allergy. It is the “weed” that the Father used to inspire this
book. “Weed” is the nickname I have given alpha-gal, and
other obnoxious things that get into our bodies and lives.
Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), or alpha-gal (AG for short), is in
its early research and did not even have a name until
recently. Some people have had it misdiagnosed for twenty
to forty years. I have opinions and research on it linked to
Lyme coinfections dating back long ago. Its roots cannot be
traced easily because it slipped in unperceived, overlooked,
and unrecognized. Like a weed.”

The next few blogs will be excerpts from my only published book. I would like for it to go out to as many as needs it. It is for empowerment and hope.

I had been a complete and total captive of core emotional baggage filled over years and did not even know it had occurred. Primary Food is not on your plate. Health is Heart, Mind, Soul, Body, Balance, together.

Fear causes marked deactivation of cerebellum (back part of brain with most blood flow). Fear increases confusion.

Is your JUNK in the way?

Change and living life. What does that mean to you? What is that supposed to mean to you? It means a slew of things for me, positive and not to positive. Let me name a few that come to my mind: system, plan, schedule, way I do things compared to my spousal unit, projects, seasons, and the list goes on. This may not make sense because your perspective and your list will be different. That is OK. I am at a point in my seasons of some big changes that are completely unrevealed to me, and it is not easy for me to handle day by day. I am, however, taking actions to complete things I have needed to finish, and talking to people everywhere I go to stay engaged, and listening for cues of what is to be some direction.

A friend gave a talk about Nehemiah had a system and is a great help in a time like this in my life. He prayed. He took action. There was sacrifice he had to make in that action. Then there is perseverance. Comfort is not always part of the deal. This is when you stop or start a behavior, or thing. “Don’t thing that you misheard the Father when the going gets tough. In every triumph there is troubles. In every gain there’s something we have to give. We have to have our expectations in the right spot so that we can keep going”.

I want this life of mine to make a difference. I am willing to sacrifice. It is uncomfortable. I hope you can keep the system of Nehemiah in mind as you make changes, keep those changes going, and move forward toward the plan made for you, not the plan you made for yourself.

Please contact me if you need some coaching, analysis of minerals, care of your stress, or help in the sometimes complex health issues. I am here for you if you are overwhelmed.

Affirmations

Every now and then, I read through old journals and notebooks. I love to journal, and have always found it to be beneficial for my sanity. Today, I read through a mini notebook of thoughts I had while my kids were younger. I was attempting to be a better me, a better mother, and wife, than those before me. I was doing my best to find out what the Father wanted me to be. I was passionate about being the best example I could be. I was not trying to be perfect, but I was wanting to be more than just mindful. Below are the things written (things in parenthesis are my present thoughts in response to the past thought).

OK, so far, I see a pattern of my mouth and tongue being noticed as something I need to work on as a parent and as a wife. I can say that some of these I am still working on. Is there ever an end to our madness? I believe I have improved, but take much of our work to our grave. I will continue with more of my mini journal writing.

I believe I was really being molded as a mother. Have you checked yourself lately? I remember always reminding myself not to compare myself to other mothers, or even the proverbs mother. I was the mother I made myself to be. What is your perception of being a mom? Continuing the mini journal, I will finish up this article and allow the journal to speak for itself.

One more thought to end this message from my mini journal.

Follow me on Facebook and Instagram. I will be making more posts, and videos in health, healing, life and spirit. Take care of yourself. See all links on my home page at www.naturalhelp.net

RISK

Quote: David Alan Arnold: “I think it’s why you see kids doing street takeovers; I think it’s why you see people fighting so bitterly on social media, because they don’t have a challenge and a risk and a meaningful quest in their lives. So, when they see someone they disagree with on Facebook, it’s on! They fight to the death. By not having risk or taking risk, it leaves the human spirit staving.

By taking risk and adventure away from people, it’s like a poisonous thing that you do to their spirit, and that’s why they try to kill each other when someone gets cut off in traffic. That’s NOT a normal reaction. That’s a reaction to someone who has nothing to fight for in their life, and so any fight is to the death. Their whole spirit is craving a risk and a reward. I do think thats an unhealthy aspect to our very comfortable society we have today. “

Health—Healing—Habit

Mat 13:14  “In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, ‘YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE;

Mat 13:15  FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.’

Mat 13:16  “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

Mat 13:17  “For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

Do you see the health in this section of scripture? Do you see the profound independence from the habits of the common world and the habits that can be made out of pure dependence on the Creator? All the prophets said these words, and all the faithful before the prophets knew these truths; but not only did they know them, they lived them.  WE need only to know what the Father tells us to do in our health walk, and when we are sick, none other.

“Sometimes, I feel that my life is a series of trapeze swings. I’m either hanging on to a trapeze bar swinging along or, for a few moments, I’m hurdling across space between the trapeze bars.

Mostly, I spend my time hanging on for dear life to the trapeze bar of the moment. It carries me along a certain steady rate of swing and I have the feeling that I’m in control. I know most of the right questions, and even some of the right answers.

But once in a while, as I’m merrily, or not so merrily, swinging along, I look ahead of me into the distance, and what do I see? I see another trapeze bar looking at me. It’s empty. And I know, in that place in me that knows, that this new bar has my name on it. It is my next step, my growth, my aliveness coming to get me. In my heart of hearts I know that for me to grow, I must release my grip on the present well-known bar to move to the new one.

Each time it happens, I hope – no, I pray – that I won’t have to grab the new one. But in my knowing place, I know that I must totally release my grasp on my old bar, and for some moments in time I must hurtle across space before I can grab the new bar.

Each time I do this I am filled with terror. It doesn’t matter that in all my previous hurdles I have always made it. Each time I am afraid I will miss, that I will be crushed on unseen rocks in the bottomless basin between the bars. But I do it anyway. I must. Perhaps this is the essence of what the mystics call faith. No guarantees, no net, no insurance, but we do it anyway because hanging on to that old bar is no longer an option. And so, for what seems to be an eternity but actually lasts a microsecond. I soar across the dark void called “the past is over, the future is not yet here.”

It’s called a transition. I have come to believe that this transition is the only place that real change occurs. I mean real change, not the pseudo-change that only lasts until the next time my old buttons get punched.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the transition zone is the only real thing, and the bars are the illusions we dream up to not notice the void. The void – it’s that scary, confusing, disorienting nowhere that must be gotten through as fast and as unconsciously as possible?

Right?

No!

With all the fear that can accompany transitions, they are still the most vibrant, growth-filled, passionate moments in our lives. And so transformation of fear may have nothing to do with making fear go away, but rather with giving ourselves permission to “hang out” in the transition zone – between the trapeze bars – allowing ourselves to dwell in the only place where change (and real growth) really occurs.

It can be terrifying.

It can also be enlightening.

Growth-filled. Passionate. Expansive.
