OXYGEN FOR LIFE

September/October 2024 Newsletter

Oxygen. I have written how oxygen is key to keeping our immune system in order and our blood cells healthy. As ordinary as breathing may seem, the intake of oxygen sustains human life at its most fundamental level. This can be seen in the very first book of the Bible in Genesis 2:7: “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul.” The body has an immediate, moment-by-moment need for oxygen; not water, not food … oxygen. Not surprisingly, God has supplied us with more than a few foods that promote oxygen-rich blood to nourish this vital life requirement. Oxygen supports the body’s health, along with foods that build oxygen-rich blood to include in your daily diet (deep greens, kelp, blueberries, lemons, etc.). I like the article above, but I will not say you have to be a vegetarian to attain this kind of health, because each person’s needs are very different; I advocate finding what that is in yourself, but that the diet needs to be mostly raw is definite truth and fact.

On the subject of oxygen, I have learned more about the concept of life itself; I have a brief perspective in the following example.

I love to write! I have always loved to take notes and journal every part of my life. I never realized I could write without being perfectly able to write and so I lopped it off my radar. I wrote loads of poems as I grew up, and into adulthood. I wrote a song when I was an older teen that was performed in church as a special music long ago. And, I had the idea/dream to do children’s books at one point in my life with old manuscript ideas for those written down in my journals, but I let them slide from lies (deep in my conscious) that I am not a writer. Writers are just that—writers. Not all writers write correctly or with flow; that is what publishers and editors are for. I have learned this. I learned I don’t have to be good at all the aspects of writing to be a writer. I just need the passion and will to do so, and let the others come in and make it sound great. I have learned this same lesson in many areas of my life in recent years. Take an active part in your journey: You were created to use your talents to perform your passions, to accomplish your mission. Look up the book “Find the work you’re wired to do” by Ken Coleman. I just took the assessment, and I will say it is nothing like I have taken in the past. It confirmed, brought out what I just said above as a light bulb moment, for an example of how this test can change your way of thinking about things you lopped off, but can really be YOUR life after all.

And, on that note, check out my book (maybe there will be more), Weeds, a health journey of struggle, discovery and healing with the Master Gardener

I need more and updated reviews on Google, and Facebook likes/follows.  Would you please take a few minutes, and it really is just a few minutes, to write a 5-star review about your services with me.  It will help me to stay on top of the search bar for our area.  BE as detailed as you feel you want to be.  Health coaching, massage, and other services you have had with me, can be placed on the review.  REVIEWS for Natural Helping Hands for Google

I am a good step in the process to better your health. I truly care that you are empowered. I care that you take charge of your health, mind, body, and life soul. I care that you live, filling your entire being with path markers to encourage you forward to the next step.

The reasons why you need a health coach are in this full article copied below from IIN.

As wellness has increased in popularity and the Internet has become an unprecedented resource for everything from recipes to research, many have taken their health into their own hands and experienced a wide range of results. With that has come the explosion of unverified information, confusion, and more yo-yo dieting than ever before!

The truth is there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach that’s going to work for everyone, and figuring out the most nourishing diet and lifestyle for YOU isn’t easy.

There are many factors that go into finding your unique balance, such as your family ancestry, body type, personal preferences, life circumstances, schedule, location, access to resources, and much more. Putting it all together in a way that makes sense and allows you to thrive requires a personal touch from someone knowledgeable and supportive. That’s where a Health Coach comes in!

A Health Coach can help you sort out truth from fiction, provide you with customized information that’s relevant to you and your individual challenges or goals, and most importantly give you the opportunity to ask questions and speak freely in a supportive environment.

1. You feel like something might be off with your health, but you’re not sure what it is.
In addition to consulting your primary care provider, working with a Health Coach can help you dig deeper into what you’re experiencing, get to the root of your imbalance, and find new ways to help you feel your best again. From fatigue and low energy to acne and digestive issues, Health Coaches guide clients through listening to their bodies and making sustainable lifestyle adjustments to fix seemingly minor issues that may have major effects on health!

In addition, the Wall Street Journal reported on the value and effectiveness of health and wellness coaches.

In a recent article, they report that there is “a broader shift within the health-care industry toward keeping people well instead of simply treating them when they’re sick.” And that “although wellness coaching is a relatively new field, some recent research suggests that it does work—at least in the short term.”

2. You’re more likely to accomplish goals when you have guidance and accountability.
Whether it is having trouble addressing your cravings, finding the motivation to keep up with your fitness routine, or getting inspired to be more creative in the kitchen, a Health Coach can help you establish the structure you need to make progress toward your goals. Regular check-ins with a Health Coach will help you feel accountable for the health decisions you make in a way that is motivating and encouraging.

3. You want to improve your diet and lifestyle but you’re not sure where to begin.
One day you’re vegan, the next day you’re paleo, and the day after that you’re sure that Mediterranean is the way to go. Sound familiar? A Health Coach can help you take the pressure off perfection and simply take things one step at a time.

4. You’re tired of dieting, deprivation, and the frustration that comes with trying to lose weight.

If you’ve tried every diet under the sun and are fed up with feeling discouraged, a Health Coach will help you reconnect with your primary goals and what’s preventing you from achieving them. Health isn’t just about nutrition – in fact, weight loss comes with a variety of lifestyle related challenges that a Health Coach can help you safely address so you can shed the weight for good.

5. You want to become a more positive health influence on the people around you.
Your first priority should be to establish healthy habits for yourself, and through that process you will inevitably become a positive role model for the people around you. A Health Coach can help you refine your own health and through that process, provide you with ways to inspire others along your journey, whether it’s your family, your community, or those whose lives you touch through your work.

6. You’re looking for a more personal approach to health from a caring individual who has your best interest at heart.
If you’ve exhausted the Internet and find yourself overwhelmed with all the information out there and are unsure where to begin your wellness journey, a Health Coach is definitely for you. They will help you create a personalized roadmap to health that prioritizes simple methods that will support you to find lasting health and happiness.

Habits vs Actions

An amazing article, posted below this paragraph, in the latest newsletter from Faithful Workouts causes me to clean out my junk. This week I have been doing some refreshing in my business, my marketing, my life, and my mind. It is becoming simply empowering once again. Let this be your story today. Contact me if you need an accountability partner. I am here for you. Jeana

The above verse calls us to transform our lives, which is deeply connected to the routines and practices we embrace each day. I know that daily routines can sometimes seem mundane or insignificant, but they hold great power in shaping who we are.

Just as habits shape our physical health, spiritual routines shape our spiritual health. I can say from personal experience that a routine involving prayer, Bible study, and reflection gradually transforms us into people who reflect Christ’s character. Whether we’re commuting to work, preparing meals, or spending time with loved ones, each moment holds the potential for spiritual growth and connection with God.

Consider the simple act of waking up each morning. Rather than rushing into the day’s demands, try starting with a moment of gratitude and prayer. This small act can set a tone of peace and purpose for the entire day. Similarly, approaching our work with positivity reflects our commitment to honoring God in all we do.

Let’s embrace routine not as a mere sequence of tasks, but as a series of moments where we can encounter and reflect God’s love.

I do not like roller coasters. I look at them and see this mess.  I feel like I am in this mess when I have been on a roller coaster. I have felt nauseous and unstable when I have come off a roller coaster. They frighten me to my core!

I found a picture that fit how I felt about roller coasters.  I noticed something in the picture. It does not have an ending outside the mess. It has an ending in the middle of chaos, and there is no evidence the boxes would stop there or go off the track completely.  I began to think of life in this picture.

Our lives can feel like a roller coaster. Our lives can feel like they will never come out of the chaos, or we feel like our lives will end in the middle of the chaos.

Peace and Joy can be in the middle of the chaos.  Peace and Joy can turn the loop-d-loops into a calmer track.  The word for Peace is shâlôm, meaning rest, safe and well.  The words for joy are chedvâh and chara, meaning rejoicing and calm. The word for Grace is charis. The word for Thanksgiving is Eucharisteo meaning giving thanks in everything.

How can all of that be in the middle of chaos, and turn the chaos into a calmer track? A few quotes from one of my favorite authors, Ann Voskamp, in her book One Thousand Gifts, will explain my belief.  “Can we really expect joy all the time? I know it well after a day smattered with rowdiness and worn a bit ragged with bickering, that I may feel disappointment and the despair may flood high, but to give thanks is an action and rejoice is a verb and these are not mere pulsing emotions. While I may not always feel joy, God asks me to give thanks in all things, because He knows that the feeling of joy begins in the action of thanksgiving.” “Only self can kill joy. I’m the only one doing this to me.” “The demanding of my own will is the singular force that smothers out joy—nothing else.” EUCHARISTEO. Dying to self-demands that I might gratefully and humbly receive the better, the only things that a good God gives. Joy means dying, to follow the Messiah to the table of thanksgiving, or “blessed self-forgiveness”. I can let go. You can let go. “My own wild desire to protect my joy at all costs is the exact force that kills my joy. Flames need oxygen to light. Flames need a bit of wind. The theology’s putting on skin. All light seen is light from the past and light now old from the sun streams through the window, glints off the glass shards. Broken glass ignites in the light and there it is, the secret of joy’s flame: humbly let go. Let go of trying to do, let go of trying to control…let go of my own way, let go of my own fears. Let God blow His wind, His allowed trials, oxygen for joy’s fire. Leave your hand open and be. Be at peace. Bend the knee…whisper thanks. The picture below is the line coming out of the chaos.

Prevention and Treatment of Illness During Flu Season

I would like to share some things with everyone that may help in this season of sickness.  I want to stress that the “swine flu” and other similar viruses have been around before in this country, so this is not a new thing for the human race as it has been portrayed to be.  The Bible says “be not afraid”, and “seek knowledge” and other statements that should lead us to take the time to research all aspects of what is going on around us.  For your convenience, I have listed resources and books that are a few of the most reliable I have found in my lifetime.   I encourage you all to use these resources as a springboard, and a foundation, to build your knowledge of prevention and the things Yahweh our God has created for us to use in times like these.  I always tell people to ask for His direction and hand in the stuff used, because He knows what it is and how it works and will make it work to its best.

Influenza is an acute virus disease characterized by inflammation of the respiratory tract, fever, muscular pain and intestinal irritation.  Here are some basic suggestions for prevention and treatments of some of the illnesses going around now:

  • Mostly juices and broths are best for foods during this illness; no red meat, eggs and milk products keeps the mucus easier to control.
  • Vitamins C, A, and E are very important; take in large doses during sickness (you can take very high doses and will not be toxic when you are sick).  All minerals are very important also.  Cod Liver oil is a great way to get the high vitamin A.
  • Ginger, Capsicum (cayenne pepper), Mullein, are good for infection and fever.
Dandelion, garlic, poke root, comfrey, and wild cherry bark are very beneficial for cleansing the infection.
  • Congestion needs to be kept in control: vinegar, honey, Emergen-C, and herbal allergy formulas.
Olive leaf, grapefruit seed extract, thyme, oregano oil, are some of the best antibiotics for the flu or any viruses, bacteria, and infections.

You can get the information from these books:  Herbal Antibiotics by Stephen Buhner, and Own Your Own Body by Stan Malstrom

Emotional Stress: Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks: A neurologic and psychiatric like condition caused by cervical spine instability

The excerpt below is part of a long article explaining the connection between cervical instability and symptoms as described in my title. I have clients who fall into this category, as well as myself over the years. I have researched and learned the therapies that can change the trajectory of the condition. I am seeing amazing results with the combination of chiropractic and the specified therapies I use, along with diet, mineral testing and balancing, biofeedback, and hormone/thyroid testing and balancing.

A story: “I have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder with psychotic features, chronic fatigue, anxiety, PTSD, sinusitis, fibromyalgia, seizures, to name a few. I have tried multiple medications but nothing seems to work or they work for a very small period of time. I have no energy, my mood is in anger all the time, I have no rest from pain ever (even with Vicodin or anesthesia injections), my head pounds ALL THE TIME like if my sinuses were stuffed with mucus, my vision gets blurry, brain fogginess, my heart muscle aches, my whole left arm is always in pain or numbed, as too is my left leg all the way to the tiny toe. So, I googled exactly what I felt: what runs from the brain stem (right from where the neck starts), comes down towards my left arm, circles around the heart, pinches the lower back, and goes down the left leg ending with numbness of the toes? And that is when I discovered it was the vagus nerve. And of course after that, I googled how do I get treated? I am taking Lyrica 200 mg twice a day, cymbalta 60 mg, tizanidine 4 mg as needed, Vicodin 10/325 mg every eight hours, clonazepam 1 mg as needed once a day, and an abilify shot every month for depression, and levetiracetam for seizures. However, nothing seems to help or get anywhere near my healing. It’s been seven years now trying different antidepressants, all sorts of medication, spiritual journeys, different diagnosis, chiropractors, massages, ECT in my brain (seizure induction therapy with electricity), MRI’s, EEG’s, sleep studies, etc. and am here on this day defenseless asking for another opinion or a new hope towards recovery.”

Personality changes and emotional health problems often seen in patients with cervical dysstructure

Ross Hauser, MD discusses emotional symptoms and personality changes that may have a structural link to the neck in some cases.

This video is on one of the most important topics we see in patients. How ligamentous cervical instability, that is how weak and damaged neck ligaments are not able to support and hold the neck and head in place, allowing the neck bones to compress on the neurologic (nerve) processes that run trough the neck and cervical spine.

This affects a person’s emotional stability and personality. Many patients have shared with us how psychological diagnosis such as bipolar disorders or personality disorders have been radically changed for the better once their neck and cervical spine instability or “dysstructure” a broken down neck structure, has been treated and natural structure, curvature, and stability has been restored.

Anyone who’s had a change in emotional status or change in personality, that in some cases seems to have happened overnight, has to wonder why did this happen? What can happen is that a person’s brain pressure can reach certain levels where certain parts of the brain will no longer function correctly or the brain’s nerve impulses and messages are not reaching other parts of the body, or when those messages do arrive, they are jumbled and distorted and nothing makes sense. They will have a sudden change in emotional stability, for instance they could have new onset of anxiety. If know somebody whose personality is absolutely changed, almost overnight,  more irritability or lack of interest in things, they don’t care about the future, all of a sudden they’re very depressed or all of a sudden they have bipolar disorder, you have to think, this is night right? What is going on? It could be cervical spine instability.

This is the background slide in the introduction of the video. A brief summary is given below.

Stress and Anxiety

25,000 genes at conception

These genes multiply to trillions upon trillions as organs grow and humans develop.

Genes: 65% are the same as a banana, 75% are the same as a fruit fly, 80% are the same as a mouse, 99% are the same as a chimpanzee. We are human, not animal. We have a percent that is only human, setting us apart from all life forms.

96% of all elements in the body are Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen. 4 % are all the other elements. All are important blocks to our body.

What does this have to do with stress and anxiety? Before our birth (constitution), our conception day, while we are in the womb, our birth, place of birth, and after birth (condition) play a part in our daily lives. Stress and anxiety can be from imbalances of elements, trauma, circumstances, food, environment, and more.

Everything that occurs in our lives is embedded in our fascia; imprints of trauma in life never go away, but it can be turned around/changed.

Join us as we take on this huge subject, break it down into intricate parts, and tune into bio individuality.

Live Stream, Rumble, each Thursday at 10 am. It will be recorded as well. WE will be in the series of stress and anxiety for the next 6 weeks or more. Series episodes will include: nutritional influences in connection to emotional eating, dehydration, maternal caregivers and general caregivers, navigating relationships, and physical manifestations such as allergic reactions, panic attacks, and mood disorders.

Get out of your head

“What if, instead of spending our energy trying to fix the symptoms, we went to the root of the problem? The reality is that our emotions are a byproduct of the way we think. What’s good about this news is that we can change our thinking.”

As I read that quote from a bible devotional, and thought of what that means, I began to get back to the meaning of my callings in Life. I had lost a little bit of the passion that grew this business this past year. I had been so busy taking care of the business as it has blossomed, that I lost a tiny portion of the initial seed that sprouted. (I am a gardener and I cannot help but speak in gardening terms).

Scripture is bringing me back to that seed core. This statement is bringing me back to that intention for each and every interaction, from clients to marketing, that I have invested into this amazing work: “God, help me break the cycle of my out-of-control thoughts. I want Your truths to invade every decision, every emotion, every thought I have. Amen.

I truly care about you.

Self-control and biofeedback

Self-control and biofeedback

Some people with epilepsy try to control their brain activity to reduce the rate of seizures. The theory is that if you can detect symptoms of an impending seizure, you may be able to stop it.

Many people with epilepsy experience aura symptoms about 20 minutes before a seizure occurs. You may notice unusual smells, see strange lights, or have blurry vision.

You may feel symptoms for several days leading up to the event. These symptoms include:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • fatigue
  • bad headaches

Self-control methods are used to prevent or decrease the intensity of the seizure once it arrives. There are several techniques, all of which require good concentration and focus.

Examples are:

  • meditation
  • walking
  • immersing yourself in a task
  • sniffing a strong odor
  • literally telling the seizure “no”

The problem with these methods is that there isn’t a single technique to stop a seizure. And there isn’t a guarantee that any of them will work every time.

Another approach involves biofeedback. Like self-control measures, the purpose of the process is to take control of your brain activity.

Biofeedback utilizes electrical sensors to alter brain waves. At least one studyTrusted Source found that biofeedback significantly reduced seizures in people with epilepsy who couldn’t manage their symptoms with conventional drugs.

Physical therapists commonly use biofeedback. If you’re interested in this procedure, seek a professional with credentials.

It may be difficult to manage your condition with self-control and biofeedback alone. Both procedures require time, persistence, and consistency to master. If you decide to go this route, be patient. Don’t reduce or stop taking any prescribed medications without your doctor’s approval.

5. Acupuncture and chiropractic care

Acupuncture and chiropractic treatments are sometimes considered alternatives to conventional epilepsy treatment.

The exact way acupuncture helps isn’t understood, but the ancient Chinese practice is used to help ease chronic pain and other medical issues. It’s thought that by placing fine needles in specific parts of the body, practitioners help the body heal itself.

Acupuncture may change brain activity to reduce seizures. One hypothesis is that acupuncture may keep epilepsy in check by increasing parasympathetic tone and changing autonomic dysfunction.

The practice sounds good in theory. But there isn’t scientific evidence to prove that acupuncture is an effective epilepsy treatment.

Spinal manipulations in chiropractic care may also help the body heal itself. Some chiropractors use specific manipulations to help control seizures on a regular basis. Like acupuncture, chiropractic care isn’t widely viewed as an effective form of epilepsy treatment.

The bottom line

For the most part, evidence supporting natural treatments for epilepsy is anecdotal. There isn’t the research to support safe use.

There also isn’t a single treatment or alternative remedy that will work for everyone. Your neurologist is your best source of epilepsy information and care. Your brain is a complex network. Each case is different, and seizures vary in severity and frequency.

Different kinds of epilepsy also respond to different herbs and different medications. Herbs or other natural treatments may interfere with medications and seizures might result.

Many people try varying treatment methods until they find one that works best for them. Epilepsy is a serious disease, and it’s important to prevent seizures. Natural treatments may complement your medical treatment. In some cases, these therapies may even improve your treatment.

Despite their potential, natural treatments still pose significant risks. This is especially the case with herbs and vitamins, as they can interact with some medications.

Some supplements can even be as powerful as conventional drugs. Be sure to consult your doctor before adding any herbs or supplements to your regimen.

You shouldn’t discount natural treatments for epilepsy, but treat them as separate options for epilepsy care. Take note of which methods interest you and discuss them with your doctor before you try them.

The safest way to treat epilepsy is in full consultation with your neurologist. Adding herbs or other treatments without consulting them may interfere with your medication’s effectiveness and might risk more seizures.

LIVER and KIDNEYS

The Liver and Kidneys regulate every function of the human body. Without these two vital organs, the body would perish.

EVERY malady of the entire body…head to toe…can be traced back to one of these two major organs!! It is imperative to keep these two organs running and clean.

Liver -The Liver regulates the skin of every organ of our body including the skin itself. To your Liver there is no difference between the skin of your Spleen or the skin of your leg. To the body, anything that coats anything is skin and is under the watchful eye of the Liver.

Liver-The Liver regulates ALL HOLLOW organs of the body

•Lungs•Colon•Intestines•Stomach•Vagina•Uterus•Skin•Arteries•Veins•Capillaries•Nerves•Throat /Esophagus•Mouth•Sinuses•Nasal Cavities• Kidneys

Kidneys -The Kidneys regulate ALL SOLID organs of the body.

•Brain•Muscles•Heart•Pancreas•Tendon•Cartilage•Ligaments• Liver Kidneys

The Kidneys regulate Blood Pressure, are solely responsible for all Fluids of the body

ALWAYS work on BOTH of these organs anytime you are working with and on the human body. You will NEVER make a mistake by working to support them both.

thoughts on the trail

Appearances are not always what they seem.

You have probably seen the picture of the small iceberg that appears to be harmless. Yet, underneath is a much larger picture of the iceberg’s true size. This picture is used a lot in self help arenas.

I have another picture for you. I was walking along and kicked a small rock. It did not move. I decided to reach down and pull it up to move it. It did not budge.

I kicked and pushed and pulled for many minutes. Finally I took hold of it, pulled in several directions, and managed to get it out. It was a large rock, not a small rock as it appeared from the surface. And, to top that off, it had an L shape in in.

The hole was deep. I stepped back and just marveled at this for a few moments, thinking about how we kick and tear at issues, people or situations in our life; most often than not, they are rooted bigger than we expect them to be. If we stay at it and finally get the entire thing worked out, the hole is usually deep.

The relief is revealing, calming, closing, refreshing, anguishing, exasperating, penetrating, unyielding, struggling, and trying. We then work on mending the hole. I will leave this with you to ponder. I am pondering it, reading scriptures to understand it, and keeping it as a reminder of our human intricacies.

I am here to help you through these times of kicking, tearing and figuring things out.
